  • Orientation
    Welcome to Literacy Volunteers of Wayne County. We have developed this orientation lesson to help you learn more about the literacy needs in our country and some of the issues that adult learners face.
  • Session I
    In Session I you will explore theories of how adults learn and how to create a supportive learning environment. You will also learn some introductory techniques for teaching reading and writing.
  • Session II
    In Session II you will look at various definitions of literacy and different views of reading. You will learn some techniques for improving reading comprehension and how to help your student through the writing process.
  • Session III
    In Session III you will look at different learning styles and their impact on tutoring. You will explore using assessments and setting goals with your student. Finally you will practice developing lessons plans using sample case histories.
